Ayumi Bucher received a BA in International Relations at Kitakyusyu University in her native country of Japan before moving to Virginia. A jack of all trades, after settling in Virginia Ayumi pursued certification as a dental assistant and licensed massage therapist. She has also taken the Ritz Carlton customer service class and continues to uphold the exemplary service and compassion she learned during that time.
Every day is a new challenge in dental assisting. Ayumi loves the different elements of the job: hands-on technical work, clerical work, and customer service among other things. She has always had an interest in healthcare, specifically with preventative care and hands-on work. At Old Town Smiles, she’s found both as a dental assistant. Recently she took a special interest in TMJ issues and draws from her massage therapy background to approach TMJ in a unique, multi-pronged methodology.
When she’s not buzzing happily through the office, you’ll find Ayumi traveling, cooking, or somewhere in nature with her husband. On evenings she doesn’t feel like adventuring, she cuddles up with her feisty, beloved cat Tapo.
