Jillian (“Gillie”) Wratten, our Practice Administrator and Business Team Leader, originally hails from London, England. She has lived all over the world and has been living in the United States for the last 30 years. She brings almost 40 years of experience in the dental field to Old Town Smiles, and has worn many hats in the industry. She has served as everything from a dental surgical assistant with maxillofacial trauma patients in the Operating Room in Saudi Arabia, to a Dental Insurance Specialist and Financial Expert here in the U.S.
At Old Town Smiles, Gillie is your go-to person for financial questions. She has been known to work tirelessly on your behalf to help you maximize your insurance reimbursement and benefits. You still may catch Gillie sitting chairside with Dr. Ahmed or Dr. Kitchen, as she still loves to be “in on the action” with our patients.
In her spare time, Gillie enjoys spending time with her three grown children and one beautiful grandson. She loves watching English football (“soccer” to us Americans) and loves indulging in some of her favorite English foods to help her feel close to home. Our patients love chatting with Gillie about all sorts of random trivia and sports. Look for her at the front desk at your next visit to Old Town Smiles!
Crystal Henry is a veritable Renaissance woman. She holds certification in X-Ray Technician, CPR, Dental Coding and Billing, and CEREC. Though she has 13 years of experience, she only grows more passionate in the continuously evolving field of dentistry. Crystal serves as a Business Associate for Old Town Smiles. Her enthusiasm for her job is demonstrated everyday through her superior patient interaction and attention to detail. She strives to ensure that every patient leaves with a bigger smile than they arrived with. Crystal credits Dr. Kitchen as a huge reason for Old Town Smiles success.
Crystal is a native Virginian who spends her time with her three beautiful children and her loving pitbull, Dice. She enjoys reading, wandering through nature, watching her kids play sports.
Kayla Martinez is a Business Associate and one of the happy, smiling faces behind the desk at Old Town Smiles. She is currently attending Strayer University and pursuing a Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Financing. Her passion for teamwork and learning make her a natural fit for the Old Town Smiles team. With her warm nature and bright smile, Kayla always goes above and beyond to connect with and remember the patients that come into the office. In fact, one of her favorite parts of working at the office is getting to know the patients.
Kayla grew up in the Woodbridge area, but currently resides in Alexandria where she shares a home with her husband and their bubbly four year old nephew. Her naturally inquisitive nature always drives her to learn more. Because of this she enjoys discovering new museums and tourist attractions in the DMV area. When she’s not exploring the big city, you can find her at the beach or hitting the trails at one of the many local parks in the area.
Bridgett has been a Certified and Expanded Functions Dental assistant since 1999. Bridgett joined Old Town Smiles in 2005. Bridgett is the Administrative Assistant as well as the lead case presenter. She will make you feel well taken care of because of her great clinical and communication skills. She has attended the Las Vegas Institute for advanced dental studies, the Ritz Carlton Leadership training, Cerec training and many other continuing education courses. Bridgett is ACLS certified (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). She is always striving to expand her knowledge and skill sets, so that she may continue to offer exceptional patient care. Bridgett enjoys quality time with her husband Paul and son Balin. Bridgett recently moved back to Oregon and now works remotely, but she’s still a big part of the team at Old Town Smiles.
Marketing and Social Media Director
Katie Luciano, Marketing and Social Media Director for Old Town Smiles, received her Master’s in eMarketing from the University of Virginia. Additionally, she is certified in Google Analytics and Search Engine Optimization. Katie joined the team at Old Town Smiles this year and loves that the office is dedicated to the happiness, health, and education of each patient. She looks forward to launching new marketing campaigns that will help staff and patients connect on a new level, set the practice apart from other dental offices, and improve the already 5-star experience.
Katie is originally from Long Island, but moved to Virginia to attend George Mason. She currently resides in Sterling, VA with her loving husband, Plott Hound, and three cats. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and any activity that gets her outside in the fresh air.
Clinical Team Leader
Sara Miles began her dentistry career in 2004 as a Certified Dental Assistant in Louisville, KY after receiving an Associate’s Degree in in Business Administration and working in retail management for 10 years. Ultimately, it was her love for people that brought her to dentistry. Five years after she began working in dentistry, she and her husband moved to the DMV area where her career has flourished.
Sara has 13 years’ experience sitting beside and being mentored by accomplished dentists and currently serves an instructor at NoVA Community College in Springfield, VA. From 2011-2016 she instructed the Dental Assisting Program and has since transferred to instructing the Dental Radiation Safety course full time. In October 2016, she joined the Old Town Smiles office as the Clinical Team Lead. She has been a bright light and asset to the Old Town Smiles team ever since. Her passion and dedication to educating patients as well as her students has only and will only continue to grow.
Sara is happily married to her husband of 10 years and enjoys spending time with friends and biking. She was able to travel abroad as child due to her father serving in the Army and spent 12 years amongst the natives of Germany. This opportunity grew her love of traveling which she now shares with her husband. Always one for a good time, you can find Sara planning the next brunch or gathering.
Chelsea enjoys helping her patients achieve optimal oral health through soft tissue management, periodontal therapy and oral hygiene education. She received her dental hygiene degree from Owens Community College in Ohio. Chelsea belongs to the American Dental Hygiene Association and Northern Virginia Dental Hygienist Association. Additionally, she is certified to give local anesthetic and to administer and monitor nitrous oxide to her patients if needed. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling kayaking, snowboarding, and time with her family. Chelsea is certified in ACLS or Advanced Life Cardiac Certified.
Sam Youssef received his degree in Dental Hygiene at New York University. During this time he lived in Manhattan, but eventually moved down to the Washington D.C. area where he joined the Old Town Smiles team as a dental hygienist. Additionally, he is certified to administer CPR, local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide to patients. His light-hearted nature and dedication to professionalism are the perfect complement to Old Town Smiles. Throughout the day, patient interaction is his driving force. He believes that with each new patient he learns something new about, not only the patient but, himself.
Sam has a twin brother, two sisters, and loving parents whom he’s very close to. A genuine people person, he enjoys talking to strangers while he’s out and about. When he’s not making friends with DC natives in Logan Circle, you’ll find him taking Polaroid pictures and devouring Netflix documentaries.
Linda Riddick is a graduate of the NoVA Community College Certified Dental Assistant program and a passionate member of the Old Town Smiles team. She enjoys seeing patients leave the office with a bright smile on their face. With her compassionate communication style and warm nature, she ensures that every patient is comfortable and happy. Linda looks forward to learning and growing alongside her Old Town Smiles team members.
An avid walker, Linda enjoys walking the length of the Wilson Bridge from Alexandria, VA to the Maryland city limit. When she’s not enjoying the DMV scenery, you can find her spending time with her husband of seven years in her Lorton home or catching up with her son.
Ayumi Bucher received a BA in International Relations at Kitakyusyu University in her native country of Japan before moving to Virginia. A jack of all trades, after settling in Virginia Ayumi pursued certification as a dental assistant and licensed massage therapist. She has also taken the Ritz Carlton customer service class and continues to uphold the exemplary service and compassion she learned during that time.
Every day is a new challenge in dental assisting. Ayumi loves the different elements of the job: hands-on technical work, clerical work, and customer service among other things. She has always had an interest in healthcare, specifically with preventative care and hands-on work. At Old Town Smiles, she’s found both as a dental assistant. Recently she took a special interest in TMJ issues and draws from her massage therapy background to approach TMJ in a unique, multi-pronged methodology.
When she’s not buzzing happily through the office, you’ll find Ayumi traveling, cooking, or somewhere in nature with her husband. On evenings she doesn’t feel like adventuring, she cuddles up with her feisty, beloved cat Tapo.

Joy moved to the Northern Virginia area after leaving her home country of the Philippines. She loves traveling and exploring the local area with her doting husband. One of her favorite things about the area is the unique easy access to both urban and rural areas. When she’s not planning her next trip, you can find her wandering the streets of Old Town Alexandria admiring the historic architecture.
