Friendly but dishonest when it comes to costs. If you have dental insurance, go elsewhere...no, RUN elsewhere. They will charge the most that they feel that they can get away with and happily submit insurance for you, but you will most likely feel robbed after the experience. With a smile, they will explain that they are competitive, yet a little more expensive than in-network providers in order to provide higher quality dental care then in-network providers. They will then bill you out of pocket for everything and then submit your insurance for you. You will then receive reimbursement from your insurance for the insurance provider's allowable amounts. The problem is that they charge so much more than an insurance provider's allowable amounts (and there is no easy way to see the differences between what they charge and what is typically allowable by an insurance provider), that you will end up only getting reimbursed approximately 35% of your out of pocket expenses. BTW, I have very good dental insurance that is also very common in the market. At an in-network provider, I would have paid between $70 and $100 dollars total out of pocket. With Old Town Smiles, I ended up paying $1040 up front for an oral exam, x-rays, a cleaning and 2 fillings. After reimbursement from my insurance, my total out of pocket costs were $670. That's around $500 more than if I went to a dentist that was in-network for dental insurance. Wow! Beware: This could happen to you as well, if you use Old Town Smiles.read more

I like the focus Old Town Smiles puts on customer service and patient comfort. It's nice to walk into a medical office of any kind and be treated like a person instead of a number or dollar sign. The staff is all very friendly and thorough. In addition to the excellent treatment, the patient services at Old Town Smiles are excellent. I'm a new patient but had to go in several times over the last few weeks to get cavities taken care of. I'm very happy with my experience so far.read more

My wife and I recently moved here from Northern California and needed to find a “good” dentist. Old Town Smiles is “excellent”. I had emergency work and was brand new in town. Based only on reviews and proximity, I contacted them via a wew form. Will wonders never ceases! It was not a black hole! They got back to me at 8:05 AM, offered me a 9:40 appointment. There was parking right in front. The staff was very friendly and considerate. The office is lovely with fully networked tools. My dentist retired and I needed to find a new dentist. I routinely scheduled 6-month cleanings, but I knew that I had many very old fillings and crowns that probably needed to be replaced. Old Town Smiles provided a comprehensive examination, including a full set of high resolution digital X-rays (I was concerned about radiation exposure, but was relieved to learn that exposure using the digital technology was actually less than traditional film X-rays). In addition to the X-rays, photos of each tooth was captured digitally. After all the data was collected, Dr. Kitchen patiently sat with me, answered all my questions, and proposed a treatment plan which I immediately executed. Throughout the treatment, Dr. Kitchen honored my individual need to be kept abreast of every aspect of the treatment in real time as she was working on my teeth. To help ease any anxiety (which I really did not have since I knew that I was being provided the best of care), headphones were provided to help relax me. To say that I am thrilled with the results is a gross understatement. In addition, doctor Kitchen has a top flight team of assistants. What impressed me most about the team was their attention to detail and pride of work. For example, an aid who was preparing a temporary crown explained that she took particular pleasure in that aspect of her work as it provided an opportunity for creative and skillful expression. The result was amazing. Finally, I can’t say enough good things about the reception team. They are extremely courteous and always asking how they can make my visit more comfortable. I highly recommend Old Town Smiles to anyone looking for very high quality dental care. We only have one set of teeth as adults, and I highly recommend that you trust your teeth with the very best at Old Town Smiles.read more

I had my 3rd appt with Dr. Ahmed yesterday. I have seen a dentist every 6 months for my entire life, and Dr. Ahmed is easily the most thorough and detailed dentist I have ever had. Dr. Ahmed is professional, respectful, and brilliant. She and I spent over an hour together looking at every one of my teeth, and discussing my bite and the dental issues I am experiencing. I have a real fear of the dentist. After a long hiatus, OTS has become my new dentistry. Everyone from the receptionist to the hygienist is warm and friendly. They were understanding of my deep fear and made sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. They have a unique procedure for new patients in which they learn about your preferences by asking specific questions. Dr. Kitchen and her staff are truly the sweetest! Professional and kind, and the facility is clean and inviting. They even cover the parking garage fee. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I'm excited to come back for routine cleanings! Very impressed after my first few visits to this practice, including an initial evaluation, consultation, and follow-up to address some cavities. From the front desk to the hygienists, the staff are very friendly and thorough. And that goes doubly for Dr. Ahmed, who also gets high marks for her patience in explaining her evaluation and recommended actions. The atmosphere is pleasant and unhurried, and the people here will go out of their way to make you comfortable. Dr. Kitchen recognized a cavity (or maybe resorption) in an X ray, which several other dentists in multiple countries missed for years. Her staff got me in to have it filled only about a week later and the doctor and her staff took every pain to avoid causing me any (pain). With a dental emergency on a Saturday, I called Old Town Smiles expecting to leave a message with some far away answering service. Dr. Kitchen herself answered my call! While out of town, she wasn't able to come open the office to see me (though I know without a doubt, she would have if she could have), she had me in her chair by 7AM the following Monday, and fixed me up.
